Node.js 26 LTS is now generally available on Vercel
Vercel announced that Node.js 26 LTS is Generally Available for builds and Vercel Functions. Node.js 26 is the default for new projects, and minor and patch updates roll out automatically.

Why it matters
Projects can run on Node.js 26 with HTTP/2 by default for built-in fetch (via Undici 8), the Temporal API, and V8 14.6 features such as Map.prototype.getOrInsert(). Existing projects with engines.node allowing 26 will build on Node.js 26 on the next deployment, so runtime behavior may change without a manual switch.
Who should care
Developers and teams deploying Node.js applications, Functions, or APIs on Vercel
What you can do
Check your package.json engines.node field and test your app on Node.js 26 in a preview deployment, setting VERCEL_FETCH_DISABLE_H2 to 1 if you need to keep HTTP/1.1 for Functions.
