Vercel and Shopify release Vercel Shop, an open source storefront template for agent shoppers
Vercel announced that Vercel Shop, an open source Next.js storefront template built with Shopify, is generally available. The template exposes product pages in machine-readable form, supports the Universal Commerce Protocol via MCP at the merchant's domain, and includes a shopping assistant that shares a cart with the storefront; the rebuilt Hydrogen SDK is also generally available.

Why it matters
Store owners and developers can launch a Shopify storefront that agents can read and shop from directly, with structured data for search and answer engines, instead of relying only on human-facing page layouts.
Who should care
Ecommerce brands, Shopify merchants, Next.js developers, agencies building storefronts
What you can do
Review the Vercel Shop documentation and connect a Shopify development store to test the template's machine-readable product endpoints and MCP cart tools.
