Vercel announces general availability of WebSocket support in Vercel Functions
Vercel announced that WebSocket support in Vercel Functions is now generally available, following a public beta launched in late June. According to the post, Vercel CDN has served 300 million WebSocket connections since the beta and currently serves 15 million per day.

Why it matters
WebSocket connections follow the same limits and pricing as other Function invocations, and CPU is billed only for time spent processing messages under Active CPU pricing. This affects cost planning for realtime features such as AI chat, streaming, and multiplayer apps.
Who should care
Developers building realtime apps on Vercel, AI chat and streaming products, multiplayer app builders, teams using AI Gateway realtime models
What you can do
Review the Vercel documentation on WebSockets and estimate function invocation and Active CPU costs for your current or planned realtime features.
