Vercel speeds up repository checkout and Git LFS downloads
Vercel is rolling out faster repository checkout and Git LFS downloads on build machines with more than two vCPUs, reducing the time spent preparing project files before a build. The average time to get project files ready fell 20%, and fell 54% for LFS-enabled projects, saving about 13 seconds per deployment on that step.

Why it matters
Faster file preparation shortens deployment time for every build, and the largest gain is for projects that use Git LFS for large assets. The 90th-percentile time also fell 22%, so slow outlier deployments improve too.
Who should care
Teams deploying frequently on Vercel, and projects that store large binary assets with Git LFS such as media-heavy ecommerce sites or design-asset repositories.
What you can do
No action is required, since the change applies automatically. If you use Git LFS, compare your recent build logs for the file preparation step to measure the change in your own deployments.
