GitHub Copilot can now generate and edit images from natural language prompts
GitHub announced that users can generate and edit images directly in GitHub Copilot using natural language. When an image is requested, the selected reasoning model calls a dedicated image-generation tool; the source excerpt is truncated before naming the underlying image model.

Why it matters
Builders using Copilot can create or modify visual assets such as mockups, illustrations, or placeholder images without leaving their development workflow or switching to a separate image tool.
Who should care
Developers using GitHub Copilot, product designers, indie builders and small teams producing web or app visuals.
What you can do
Open Copilot in your editor or on GitHub, request an image for a page or component you are building, and check whether the output meets your licensing and quality needs before use.
