Vercel AI Gateway adds Cat Jam in stealth, free during stealth period
Vercel announced that Cat Jam, a reasoning model for coding and agentic tasks with low-latency inference, is available on AI Gateway as a stealth model, free to use during the stealth period. The model supports function calling and structured outputs, accepts text input only, and supports low, medium, high, xhigh, and max reasoning efforts; Zero Data Retention is not available for it.

Why it matters
Builders using AI Gateway can test a new free reasoning model for coding and agent workloads through existing OpenAI-compatible, Anthropic-compatible, and AI SDK integrations, without changing provider setup. Prompts may be retained for safety reasons, which matters for sensitive data.
Who should care
Developers building coding agents, agentic workflows, and AI-powered features on Vercel AI Gateway; teams with data retention requirements.
What you can do
Call the model as stealth/cat-jam through AI Gateway, or run the latest Vercel CLI setup and select stealth/cat-jam in Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
