Vercel Container Registry now supports 2 GB compressed image layers
Vercel Container Registry now supports up to 2 GB per compressed image layer, up from 500 MB, so larger layers can be pushed without splitting them. The total image size limit remains 15 GB.

Why it matters
Images with large toolchains or dependency sets can be pushed as fewer, larger layers instead of being split to fit the previous 500 MB layer cap. The 15 GB total image limit is unchanged.
Who should care
Developers and teams deploying container images to Vercel, including those building custom environments for coding-agent evaluations.
What you can do
If a Dockerfile build previously required splitting a large dependency layer to push to Vercel Container Registry, test pushing the unsplit layer with the Vercel CLI and Docker.
