Vercel AI Gateway adds DeepSeek Search and Fetch tools
Vercel AI Gateway now offers DeepSeek Search and DeepSeek Fetch tools. Search returns relevant pages with titles, URLs, and summaries; Fetch retrieves page content as Markdown for a model to read. Both are priced at $0.75 per 1,000 billable requests, with model tokens billed separately.
Why it matters
Builders can add web search and page retrieval to any tool-calling model through one AI Gateway API key, without a separate DeepSeek account, and keep the same tools when switching model providers. Failed requests, timeouts, and empty results carry no tool charge.

What you can do
Update the AI SDK to 6.0.321 or later (v6) or 7.0.160 or later (v7), set AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY, and pass the DeepSeek Search and Fetch helpers in the tools option of a tool-calling model.
